SUFFERING
I am not the body and it is not mine
Mahaprabu sang Thannai Arivadhu Jnanam – Ramana Geetham Page 156. Whenever there is suffering it is because of I and My. Live with discipline that there is no I nor My. The body’s survival itself is not in my hands. Breath enlivens it. It is operated upon. So how can I say it is mine? In sleep Villipu Unarvu (Awareness) does not shed light on the body. When waking it does. So you assume you are the body? If so, you wouldn’t exist at night. The body is real, but a) To say I am the body? False. b) To say the body is mine? Also False. Which part of the body did you make? So strictly be careful of these 2 mistakes. It needs Vizhippu Unarvu, Awareness. Then, the Ananda is right there. Otherwise it is a blind journey. Suffering body e.g. Pain, fever etc. need not be your suffering. Don’t build any bandhams (bonds). You will come back. Thoughts = Rebirth. Live as though the body is not yours. Your understanding will be very different. Otherwise this stupidity will lead to suffering. So take the decision to quit your identification with the body. Only then you can even touch the shade of Jnana. With inner discipline and effort, we can come out.
Surrender your identity to the Guru. Even if negative things happen to you, e.g. if you fall sick, that is Guru’s work too. Real training is happening here, so be extra careful. Be thankful. It could be a result of your misbehaving.
