THE SCALE
Do not let the 'I' enter
The whole problem is because of one thing. That you believe you are an individual, a separate person. From morning to night, the whole day do you have the feeling that you are not a separate person?
SC: Not the whole day. Sometimes there is.
Mahaprabu: Yes, what % of the day is the feeling that you are a person and what % of the day do you not have that feeling?
SC: Majority of the time there is the feeling that I am a separate person.
Mahaprabu: That is the scale. That you are not a separate person, that feeling should become predominant.
SC: That feeling seems to be increasing. Compared to before it is more now.
Mahaprabu: For example in cricket in a limited overs match, there is a current run rate and an expected run-rate. Yes, you can say that compared to the first over the second over has more runs. The first over was 1 run, now it is 2 runs. But you have to look at the required run rate! It is so high! And the overs will be over. (Laughing)
This is how the mind cheats you. Never lose guard. Look at what is needed. Tell yourself I cannot keep on scoring singles. Yes it is better than before. But not enough. The body has a fixed number of overs. We should not become complacent. The mind can make you feel satisfied. Don’t allow it. Work fast. Work hard. You know that once in a while you are getting the feel that you are not an individual. Those are the moments of success. We need to increase that. We need to increase the opportunities for more such moments. When loose balls are coming your way, you should hit sixes. You have figured out the gaps. Go for it. A new bowler could slow you down. Like that, when your body is healthy you should work hard to not identify with it. Once disease, accidents or ill-health comes, your consciousness will be focused on the body. You will think about how to save it, how to fix it. In those times it is very difficult to not identify with the body and personhood.
Time is running out. This is why Mahaprabu is working so hard. You might have noticed a tension in Mahaprabu when it comes to disciples. About Mahaprabu he is always relaxed. But for the devotees, He is continuously alert! That is how the mindset of a caretaker will be. That is why he is a caretaker. He will be careful. He will always be in full care! The disciple is relaxed. Mahaprabu is worried!! Because only he has to take care of the disciple. He knows the mindset of the disciple due to habits and he also knows how much effort has to be put in. Because he (Guru) has done it earlier. So, when it comes to a disciple the Guru will always be in a hurry. Because he knows the mind of the disciple well. It will postpone, cleverly cheat him, it will not be honest. Fixing all these is the work of the Guru.
