ATTENTION
Turn the Attention on itself
The uniqueness of Attention is that whatever is presented to it, it is aware of that thing, and not the other. During the day your attention switches continuously, for example, you are boiling milk at home and there is a commotion outside as a large snake was found. You run outside. Now your attention is on the snake outside, not on the milk inside. While you were sleeping, you were not aware of this body. That is because the body was not brought to the Attention of Attention, it was no longer the object of Attention.
But deep down there is activity at the subconscious level, from this and previous lives. You could have been a goat whose head was chopped off. This activity is also brought in front of attention. But since your brain is asleep, it is not available to parse it for you. But when your attention becomes so strong, comes so close to home, even when the body is asleep, the Attention and Brain are available. This is sleepless-sleep.
SAT CIT ANANDAM
The consciousness in us a mix of Gavanam (Attention) and Anbu (Love). We refer to it as Sat Cit Andam. That Uyir Thudippu (life energy in us), that is always there. It is Sat (since it it is never destroyed). Gavanam, Attention or Arivu is Cit. Love or Anbu is Anandam.
Dhyanam or Meditation is Attention on Attention. Separating the Attention away from body and world and turning it on itself. This is Tapas. It has to happen 24×7 and it can happen 24×7. Regaining this attention as our natural state 24×7 is Enlightenment.
