COMPASSION?
Be careful with compassion
GR was bothered by the person next door who had just cut-down a very large oak tree. In the past also GR would be very much affected when trees were cut, especially in his own house. He shared this with Sri Mahaprabu.
Mahaprabu: It is a problem only if you give reality to the world. These appearances are Maya. As soon as the thought of the tree arises, be alert. You have the freedom to fall into the trap, or come out of it. The same road but 2 directions! Your journey must be in the same direction. Those in Maya aren’t impacted and they don’t oscillate from their position. But those who are trying to come out of it are the ones who oscillate. They will go for 100KM on the road in one direction. Suddenly they will put a u-turn and go the other way. So be careful and never turn back.
Now, about the tree. At best, the tree which you planted, you don’t kill. It is best is to accept these things. Only when you accept the Truth, you will accept all this. Truth is Nameless / Formless/ Deathless/ Birthless. Then why are you bothered by form? Also so many trees are being planted. The power that induces a person to cut a tree also induces another to plant a tree. See, this is how the ego works. He is cutting a tree! He is damaging the earth! Ego exists through assets, concepts, habits.
GR: Isn’t it compassion?
Mahaprabu: It appears as compassion but ego is surviving. Lord Krishna advised Arjuna to kill. Was the Lord not compassionate? If you are close to Jnana, if you genuinely cared about the tree, it won’t be killed (GR thinking: wow!) Grace works like that. That’s why when a Jnani wishes for something it happens. It is Grace working. Mahavira was walking with a disciple and came across a sapling right on the path they were walking. The disciple requested if he could replant the sapling elsewhere. Mahavira said “It will survive. Don’t go after it.”
Be compassionate but don’t melt. It will get you out of Dhyanam. Just go with a single pointed mind straight to your goal. Like a horse with its face and side views covered. The things you feel like compassion are really weaknesses. All unexhausted love in you, you must turn towards Truth, otherwise it will go to trees, beggars etc. Just keep going towards your goal. It might even seem like you are hard-hearted.
