LOSING IDENTITY
The Art of Dying
From the very beginning, Mahaprabu has called this the Art of Dying. A thief can pick up a new skill such as singing or dancing and can still remain a thief. But in this journey that will not work. You cannot continue to be a father, son, husband or wife and get anywhere on the spiritual path. Those identities will pull you down totally. Even thinking that “I am a seeker, I have been on the spiritual path for long, I had spent time with a previous teacher,” all these have to be dropped. Completely ERASE and start from Zero. That is why I call it the Art of Dying.
Early devotees of Mahaprabu saw him as a friend, a guide but not a Master. Yet they felt peace being with him. There was communion, but they did not know the path. They were seeking, but confused their seeking with liking Mahaprabu, while still carrying on with their worldly life, family, etc. This led to confusion in their minds and in the minds of their family. As a result, there was no hold, and it pulled them down.
For me, you are all (referring to Disciples) physical bodies and Spiritual Energy. But if an IAS collector (a senior government officer) comes in now, I’ll still say ‘Hello Sir’ with respect. Why? Because he is not here as a Disciple. The ‘Sir’ is for his education and title. But if the same IAS Collector comes here as a Disciple, then I will treat him just like you. A physical body with Spiritual Energy. I can be with difference and without differences.
I see so many hearts suffering. My heart melts. Only tears of an Enlightened Master can help. His prayers can. All because of Ignorance. Ignorance about our true nature. No one wants to remove this ignorance. In the name of education, schools keep on adding to this ignorance by merely adding knowledge. This is the ugliest thing. Mahaprabu sang a song. Pachai kiligal. The last line said, “When you cry for others, those tears bring happiness.”
