At times my mind makes me almost mad

Lately I had been going back and forth between Bhakti and Jnana, Devotion and Self-Awareness. It got to a point where I could practice neither. I was blessed to have the opportunity to share my struggles with a Brahma Jnani.  Not only did he set things right, but the conversation was also so jovial. He showed me that all these problems are not for Atma. They are for the ego, and that (sadly) it is this maddening effect of thought that leads one to drop thought itself. ‘You are on the right track,’ he said!

SC: At times I become a victim to my mind and even feel like I’m going mad.
Mahaprabu: Atma doesn’t care if you attain it or not. So who needs it?
The unreal wants to attain the Truth. Unreal itself is the Sikkal, the Problem. Our focus is on the problem, not on the unreal.
We want to make the unreal have no sikkal, no problem.
Your unreal, still has the energy, and thinks it has the ability to solve the problems. It has to shift out of the unreal. You can’t do that by yourself. But still you have hope that with effort someday you can. Which shows you still have capacity. But the goal is to shift to effortless. Trust is what you need. Not answers to questions.

You said you feel like going mad. Drop that feeling. Lose the capacity of holding. Holding is energy. That needs to be dropped but you can’t do it. Since you’re used to bad habit of concepts etc. When you become tired of thinking you’ll not think about stopping thinking.

How you can come out of this

Summa Iru. Just be. But only after exhaustion it will happen. As you travel with Guru it will start to happen. For example, it is like this: You are going high speed in your car, due to the energy, but it is the wrong direction. But you think you are going home. In reality your home has already passed. But you won’t realize that even if told. So the Guru comes alongside in his car and befriends you. Slowly he overtakes you and goes in front of you. Then he starts to slow down for a while, without alerting you to the fact that you are also slowing down. Then he comes back alongside to journey with you. (We were both laughing so much as Mahaprabu was describing this. And with most of his anecdotes, the written word does no justice. Listening to him live and sharing that divine laughter of his is an experience in itself. In this manner he slowly brings you to your home, even though you don’t realize it is your home. Once both cars are inside the compound, he quickly closes the gate! The funny part is that you still don’t think that’s your home i.e. You haven’t realized your true nature yet. So even in the house, just for your sake, the Guru draws roads so you can slowly keep driving!!! (My stomach could not take the laughter anymore and had to beg Mahaprabu to stop!)

So, your thinking capacity has to go 100%. Even a single root of a plant that is left behind after the plant is cut, can grow back into a tree. Right now everyone needs Anbu (Love) and Bhakti (Devotion) on the Perarul (Supreme Grace). We need to shift from mind to heart. From Car to the House. Just follow what I say. When I say drop, you must drop without question. Only up to a point the Guru can use words. As you progress he can’t use words at some point.

Now we are shifting from thinking to being. You’ll leave thinking only if thinking burns you like fire. That’s why I said we are in the right direction. (Your feel that it is driving you insane.)

There is a Supreme Intelligence. (Perarivu). The body is proof of it. How ingeniously complex and capable it is. Bow to that Perarivu, Supreme Intelligence. Panivu (obedience) will come. Obedience must be 24 hrs. That’s the zone I’m expecting for you now for 24 hrs. Do you have that firm feeling inside you? Our goal is Perarivu. Is our attention on it? Andha ninaivu, that continued remembrance is called Devotion. It is needed now. Only when you understand that knowledge won’t help, will you drop it.

IT is doing a continuously amazing job. Keep feeling that. Your ego will reduce. No more thinking. We are moving correctly. Everything should be Perarivu for you. Devotion to it is needed. And don’t bother about Dvaita (Since SC had remarked that prayer still was a duality). Only those who bother about Dvaita will be debating it, discussing it. Because if you bother about whether you are in Dvaita or Advaita then you are in Dvaita!!! It will appear as Dvaita now, but you will disappear.

Note: At the end of this conversation there was no trace of any suffering or worry in me. Not only was I blessed with the right understanding of what was happening to me, he also showed me once again that I cannot think my way out of this mess created by the I. Simply staying in Surrender to the Guru, and following his words is enough. That’s all.
